BASICS (Allerdale) is an accredited Pre-hospital Care Scheme operating in the North west of Cumbria. Currently there are eight active scheme doctors.

All our work is voluntary. Each doctor carries an individual set of equipment, costing approximately £6,000. All this equipment has been bought from public donations to our scheme. We are a registered charity.

We work in close liaison with all the Emergency Services, being mobilised to incidents by the Ambulance service. We also have connections with our local RNLI stations & Mountain Rescue Teams.

The scheme attends approximately 350 incidents per year, virtually one incident per day.
